Monsoon season is always one of our favorite times of the year.
As moisture increases over the southwestern United States, the annual thunderstorm season begins in earnest over the desert. Typically, monsoon season begins in mid-June and ends at the end of September. For storm photographers, this is an incredible time to add some spectacular shots to your photography library.

As the tornado machine on the Great Plains shut down due to increasing ridging -- moisture increased over the SW quite early and our monsoon season had a bit of an early burst of activity. The official season took its time to get going, but July made itself known pretty quickly with some rather spectacular monsoon photoshoots across New Mexico.
This is the first part (of two) of my adventures this summer with the monsoon. Stay tuned for Part II coming very soon!
